On Tuesday, 12th March 2024, Sacred Heart sent a team of athletes to the 2024 North West Combined Catholic Schools Swimming Carnival, held at the Burnie Aquatic Centre.

The annual carnival gives students from grades 3-6 the opportunity to represent their schools in a variety of swimming events. 25m races were held in freestyle, breaststroke and backstroke, a 25m freestyle relay, and 50m freestyle and backstroke.

Our team of 27 students represented the school with an awesome blend of fairness and competitive spirit. It was great to see our swimmers giving their all in their chosen events, and we even had some competitors swim in the grade above theirs to make up the numbers. The day was very successful for our team, and we took home a haul of ribbons that included 17 third places, 14 seconds, and 14 first places.

The team also showed the true spirit of SHS with lovely manners and excellent behaviour throughout the day.

A big thank you to Mrs Kelly, Mrs Richards, and Miss Rowe for their assistance with the team. Very well done everyone.
